Therapy at Your Fingertips

My Approach

Ages 15-55

I typically use a mindfulness centered approach (Dialectical Behavioral Theory, DBT and Internal Family Systems, IFS) to help you begin to become aware of your thoughts, feelings, behaviors, and body sensations, and create balance in your life by learning new skills and reconnecting with parts of yourself that you may have been neglecting. I am also an Eye Movement Desensitization and Reprocessing (EMDR) Trained therapist and use this modality to reprocess traumatic events that you might be stuck on, reliving frequently, or have extreme beliefs about.

(See more information about DBT, IFS, and EMDR below).

You may be wondering, ‘Do I have trauma, how would I know’? Trauma is the result of our brain’s emotional reaction to a distressing event. The brain’s emotional response to a trauma depends on the experiences, coping skills, and support available to the person experiencing it. The brain responds based on the perceived severity, context, and emotional impact of the event on the individual person. Any event, big or small, that causes us to develop extreme negative beliefs about ourselves or about the world can negatively impact our lives and be treated by EMDR. You may repeatedly think or dream about the traumatic event, have extreme negative beliefs about yourself or the world, or act outside of your values if you are still recovering from a traumatic event.
