Therapy at Your Fingertips
What We Offer
Ages 15-50
At Blossom and Bloom Therapy you can attend therapy from the comfort of your own home, without the hassle of making it into an office. I believe in including the whole family in treatment whenever necessary and we can conduct video sessions to meet those needs as well.
As your therapist, we are on this journey together. Every therapy session will be focused on you, your goals, and how you want to reach them. I typically use a mindfulness centered approach to help you begin to become aware of your thoughts, feelings and behaviors and create balance in your life. I am also trained in Eye Movement Desensitization Reprocessing (EMDR) to treat those struggling with the emotional aftermath of a traumatic event. EMDR replicates REM sleep to adaptively process traumatic memories.
You may be wondering, ‘do I have trauma, how would I know?’ Trauma is the result of our brain’s emotional reaction to a distressing event. The brain’s emotional response to a trauma depends on the experiences, coping skills, and support available to the person experiencing it. The brain responds based on the perceived severity, context, and emotional impact of the event on the individual person. There is research that shows that someone who has experienced “Big T” trauma as a result of a natural disaster, serious accident, or childhood abuse will have the same brain scan as someone who developed trauma from “Little T” trauma such as bullying or the loss of a pet. Both types of trauma can negatively impact someone’s life and be treated by EMDR.
Going to therapy for the first time can be intimidating, but everyone can benefit from a little guidance on how to become the best version of themselves. It’s my goal for you to leave our first session feeling empowered and hopeful.
What You Can Expect from Therapy
-
Hope is a vital force that drives the healing process. Positive change is possible, despite life's most difficult challenges. It's my hope that during our time together, you will begin to envision a future where your struggles are less and your peace is more. Together we will set achievable goals, celebrate even the smallest of victories, and find meaning in all of life's experiences. When we find hope, we can be empowered to become our most authentic selves and be resilient when things are hard.
-
During each session you can expect me to be genuine and transparent to create a safe space where you can feel like yourself without judgement. You can begin to explore your true self in your journey toward healing and change.
-
While our therapeutic relationship is so important, you are the one who will ultimately make the decisions that guide your life. Throughout the therapeutic process, you will begin to gain a sense of control over your life and make decisions that align with your values and goals. You can expect me to gently challenge patterns of behavior and limiting beliefs to reclaim your power and autonomy. Empowerment in therapy leads to a greater sense of agency and responsibility so you can feel more capable of managing your life and overcoming challenges.
-
Unfortunately, we don't have any control over the things that have happened to us in the past, but we do have control over how we move forward. While we begin to build trust in our dynamic therapeutic relationship, you will begin to build resilience to navigate difficult emotions, past traumas, or challenging circumstances with strength and perseverance. By building resilience in therapy, you can begin to see challenges as opportunities for growth rather than insurmountable obstacles. Building resilience will empower you to face life's difficulties with greater confidence and adaptability, leading to long term emotional well being.
Treatment Modalities
-
DBT is a mindfulness based therapeutic approach which focuses on distress tolerance, emotion regulation, and interpersonal effectiveness in relationships. The “D” in DBT stands for dialectical, and the main idea of dialectics is that there is an opposite of everything, and we tend to be most effective when we can find balance between opposites. DBT has been proven to help individuals struggling with severe depression, anxiety, suicidal thoughts, and self harm. In addition, it is one of the best treatment modalities for those diagnosed with Borderline Personality Disorder.

EMDR therapy is a structured approach to treating symptoms associated with trauma. EMDR replicates REM sleep by using bilateral stimulation to access both hemispheres of the brain through alternating, rhythmic stimulation to process traumatic memories. The goal with EMDR is for an individual to be able to remember traumatic memories without reliving them. EMDR has proven to be the most effective and efficient way to treat trauma, without even having to verbally tell your therapist the entire narrative of the event.
